India’s sports fraternity has reacted with sorrow and fury after the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The incident claimed the lives of at least 26 civilians and left several others injured when terrorists opened fire at a major tourist destination in south Kashmir.
The Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow group linked to the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Cricketing icons Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were among the first to express condolences following the Pahalgam terror attack. Kohli called the act “cruel” and prayed for justice for the victims and their families. Rohit Sharma posted a heartbroken emoji on Instagram, offering a silent tribute to those lost.
Vijender Singh and Gautam Gambhir Call for Strong Action
Olympic bronze medalist and BJP leader Vijender Singh emphasized that the nation’s armed forces would respond decisively to the cowardly attack. He reaffirmed India’s resolve to maintain peace and thwart terror efforts.
Indian cricket coach and BJP MP Gautam Gambhir also condemned the attack, vowing that justice would be served.
“Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike,” he said.
PV Sindhu Shares Emotional Tribute to Victims
Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu took to social media with a heartfelt message.
“My heart aches for the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. So much pain. So much loss. No reason, no cause can ever justify such brutality.
To the families left behind—you are not alone. We stand with you,” she wrote.
The attack has reignited calls within the sports community to sever all sporting relations with Pakistan, in response to their continued sheltering of terror outfits.
