After India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav announced his participation in the tournament last week, Mumbai Cricket Association joint secretary Deepak Patil on Tuesday issued a statement saying that Shreyas Iyer will also be available for the match against Jammu and Kashmir.
The Mumbai Cricket Association has confirmed that Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer will feature for Mumbai in the upcoming Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament. He will play Mumbai against Jammu and Kashmir, which will start on August 27 in Coimbatore. After India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav announced his participation in the tournament last week, MCA joint secretary Deepak Patil issued a statement on Tuesday saying that Iyer will also be available. This comes after the BCCI ordered international players to participate in India’s home season before the start of the international series. As Iyer eyes a place in the Indian Test team in the series against Bangladesh, SKY has not given up on his Test dreams and hopes to make the most of the opportunities he gets from Buchi Babu.
“Shreyas Iyer will play for Team Mumbai in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament organized by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. He will play in the Mumbai v Jammu & Kashmir match which will be played on August 27, 2024 in Coimbatore,” Patil said in a statement. Released by MCA.
Last year, Iyer joined Mumbai for the Ranji Trophy after being dropped in the last three Tests of the five-match series against England. He will be eager to do a good job in Buchi Babu to ensure that the voters see him again. Not only Iyer, Ishan Kishan will also take the same route to return to India and lead Jharkhand under Buchi Babu. Iyer, in an interview earlier this year, revealed that he missed several home matches due to back problems. “I had difficulties after the World Cup in the long format. When I raised my concerns, no one agreed,” Iyer said.
