Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube made history on Sunday, February 2, 2025, by becoming the first player in cricket history to win 30 consecutive T20I matches. The 31-year-old Mumbai cricketer, who debuted for India in T20Is against Bangladesh on November 3, 2019, has played 35 matches in the shortest format so far.
Dube’s T20I journey began with two early defeats—one in his debut match against Bangladesh at the Arun Jaitley Stadium and another in his fifth game at Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. However, since that loss in December 2019, India has won every T20I in which Dube has played, creating an incredible streak.
Major Contributions to India’s Wins
Dube played a crucial role in India’s 5-0 whitewash against New Zealand in January 2020 and featured in all eight matches of India’s victorious 2024 T20 World Cup campaign. In 2024 alone, he played 15 matches, winning all of them.
Initially, Dube was not part of India’s squad for the five-match series against England, but he was added as a replacement for Nitish Kumar Reddy on January 25, 2025. He played the final two matches, contributing with both bat and ball. His all-round efforts helped India seal the series, including two wickets in the fifth T20I at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on February 2, 2025.
Chennai Super Kings Celebrate Shivam Dube’s Record
Dube’s IPL franchise, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), acknowledged his milestone with a special post on X (formerly Twitter):
“If Dube plays, India wins. 30-0 and still going strong. #WhistlePodu #INDvENG.”
The post also featured a graphic highlighting his historic 30-match unbeaten streak since December 11, 2019.
Dube’s Impressive T20I Stats
In 35 T20Is, Dube has batted 26 times, scoring 531 runs with four half-centuries. His highest T20I score of 63 off 32 balls* came against Afghanistan at Holkar Stadium, Indore, on January 13, 2024.
As a bowler, Dube has claimed 13 wickets in 24 innings, with his best figures of 3/30 recorded against Bangladesh at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur, on November 10, 2019.
With his historic winning streak, Shivam Dube has firmly established himself as one of India’s most impactful T20I players.
