The Bollywood superstar paid an impressive ₹92 crore in taxes for the 2023-24 financial year, surpassing other leading figures like Virat Kohli, Akshay Kumar, and Salman Khan. This remarkable contribution highlights SRK’s dominance as one of the nation’s most financially successful celebrities.
The Top Earners of 2023-24
Trailing Shah Rukh Khan, Tamil cinema icon Vijay, also known as Thalapathy, secured the second spot with a tax payment of ₹80 crore. Other notable contributors included Salman Khan with ₹75 crore, Amitabh Bachchan with ₹71 crore, and cricketer Virat Kohli with ₹66 crore. Among female celebrities, Kareena Kapoor led the pack, paying ₹20 crore in taxes and narrowly missing a spot in the top 10.
A Blockbuster Year for Shah Rukh Khan
The 2023-24 financial year was a milestone for Shah Rukh Khan, marked by three major film releases. He made a grand return to Bollywood with Pathaan in January 2023, which grossed over ₹1,000 crore worldwide. This was followed by Jawan, which outperformed expectations, earning ₹1,150 crore globally. His final release of the year, Dunki, although relatively modest, still achieved ₹400 crore at the box office. These massive earnings, combined with profit-sharing arrangements, made SRK India’s highest-earning actor in nearly a decade.
Thalapathy Vijay’s Phenomenal Success
Tamil superstar Vijay also had a blockbuster year with his film The Greatest of All Time, which grossed over ₹600 crore worldwide. Reports suggest that Vijay was paid over ₹200 crore for the film, contributing significantly to his ranking as the second-highest celebrity taxpayer.
