The BCCI announced that Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel, and Yash Dayal have been released from India’s Test squad to take part in the upcoming Irani Cup in Lucknow. The match, between Rest of India and 2023-24 Ranji Trophy champions Mumbai. Will take place at the Ekana Cricket Stadium starting Tuesday.
Former India captain Ajinkya Rahane will lead the Mumbai team. While India and Maharashtra batter Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named captain of the Rest of India (ROI) squad.
Sarfaraz Khan, a middle-order batter, will join the Mumbai team, which will be without his younger brother, Musheer Khan. Musheer is recovering from injuries sustained in a road accident last Saturday while traveling with their father and another person from Azamgarh to Lucknow.
Wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel and uncapped left-arm fast bowler Yash Dayal will be part of the ROI squad. Their participation in the Irani Cup was conditional upon their availability. Depending on their involvement in the ongoing Test series between India and Bangladesh. Since they were not required for the second Test, they have been made available for the domestic competition.
