Rishabh Pant delivered a breathtaking performance during the fifth Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday, smashing the second-fastest Test fifty by an Indian. In a remarkable display of aggressive batting, Rishabh Pant reached his half-century in just 29 balls, hitting six fours and three sixes along the way. This feat eclipsed his previous record of a 28-ball fifty against Sri Lanka in 2022.
Rishabh Pant came close to breaking his own record for the quickest Test fifty by an Indian when he raced to 47 off just 23 balls. However, he took six more deliveries to score the remaining three runs. His milestone also set a new benchmark as the fastest Test fifty by a visiting batter in Australia, overtaking the 33-ball records of England’s John Brown (1895) and Roy Fredericks of the West Indies (1975).
Pant began his explosive innings with a six off Scott Boland and reached his half-century in style with another maximum off Mitchell Starc, leaving the SCG crowd in awe of his fearless stroke play.
