The Indian team management has declared Rinku Singh fit to rejoin the squad for the final two T20Is against England in the ongoing five-match series. The left-handed batter has recovered from a low back spasm, which had sidelined him after the first T20I at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Providing an update on his fitness, Indian assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate confirmed that Rinku practised in the nets the night before and is ready for selection.
Rinku’s injury forced him to miss two consecutive matches, during which India secured a 2-1 lead in the series. However, after England’s dominant win in the third T20I at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, the series remains wide open.
Ramandeep Singh Drafted in as Rinku’s Replacement
In Rinku’s absence, the Indian selection committee had brought in his Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) teammate, Ramandeep Singh, as a backup option. While Ramandeep remains in the squad. It is highly likely that Rinku will return to the playing XI for the fourth T20I in Pune on Friday, January 31.
Addressing the media ahead of the match at Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium, ten Doeschate stated, “Rinku Singh is fit and ready to play tomorrow. He batted last night,” signaling his comeback to the side.
After suffering a 26-run defeat in the third T20I. Team India will be eager to bounce back with a strong performance against England and take an unassailable lead in the series.
