Indian badminton star PV Sindhu tied the knot with her fiancé, Venkata Datta Sai, in a traditional wedding ceremony on Sunday in Udaipur. The couple, elegantly dressed in traditional attire, exchanged vows in the presence of their families and close friends.
Among the notable attendees was Jodhpur’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who shared the first picture of the wedding on his X (formerly Twitter) handle. Sindhu got engaged to Venkata Datta Sai, the Executive Director at Hyderabad-based Posidex Technologies, a day before the wedding.
Taking to X, Shekhawat expressed his joy, saying, “Pleased to have attended the wedding ceremony of our Badminton Champion Olympian PV Sindhu with Venkata Datta Sai in Udaipur last evening and conveyed my wishes & blessings to the couple for their new life ahead.”
Upcoming Reception in Hyderabad
The wedding celebrations continue with a reception planned in Sindhu’s hometown, Hyderabad, on December 24.
The pre-wedding festivities included a lively Sangeet on December 20, followed by traditional Haldi, Pellikuthuru, and Mehendi ceremonies the next day.
Speaking about the marriage, Sindhu’s father revealed that the two families have known each other for some time. However, they finalized the wedding arrangements within a month. The couple selected the date to align with Sindhu’s training and competition commitments for the upcoming year.
Sindhu’s Recent Triumph
On the professional front, Sindhu recently broke her two-year drought on the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour by clinching the Syed Modi India International title in Lucknow.
In the final match, which lasted 47 minutes, Sindhu defeated China’s Wu Luo Yu with a straight-game victory of 21-14, 21-16. This marked her first BWF World Tour title since her Singapore Open triumph in July 2022.
Despite reaching the finals of prestigious tournaments like the Spain Masters and Malaysia Masters in 2023 and 2024, Sindhu had previously fallen short of claiming the title.
As Sindhu embarks on a new chapter in her personal life, fans eagerly await her continued dominance on the badminton court.
