Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has expressed his support for Indian batting stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, describing them as “great white-ball cricketers.” Kaif, speaking on his YouTube channel, emphasized the importance of the experienced duo in India’s campaign for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli: Legends of the Game
Kaif highlighted the stellar careers of Rohit and Kohli, who have been the backbone of Indian cricket for over a decade. Kohli, who debuted in 2008 against Sri Lanka, has amassed 13,906 runs in 295 ODIs at an impressive average of 58.18 and a strike rate of 93.54. Meanwhile, Rohit, who made his ODI debut in 2007 against Ireland. Has scored 10,866 runs in 265 matches at an average of 49.16 and a strike rate of 92.43.
Kaif acknowledged that both players are in their late 30s and nearing the twilight of their careers. However, he expressed confidence that they will have a significant impact in the Champions Trophy.
“You need Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Rohit is 37 years old, and Kohli is 36. They won’t be playing for a long time, so we need to back them. These are two great white-ball players. If they perform well, India will have a great chance to win the Champions Trophy in Dubai. Rohit provides a fast start, and Virat builds on that momentum,” Kaif said on his YouTube channel.
