The Indian men’s and women’s cricket teams paid tribute to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Who passed away at the age of 92 in New Delhi, by wearing black armbands during their respective matches on Friday.
Dr. Singh, who served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, passed away due to age-related ailments. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a statement acknowledging the gesture. “The Indian team is wearing black armbands as a mark of respect in the memory of former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh.”
The men’s team, captained by Rohit Sharma, is currently competing in the Boxing Day Test against Australia in Melbourne. Meanwhile, the women’s team faced West Indies in the third and final ODI of their series in Vadodara.
