Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi congratulated the Indian men’s hockey team for winning bronze at the Paris Olympics and announced a reward of Rs 15 lakh for each team player.
A brace from skipper Harmanpreet Singh and an effortless save from PR Sreejesh helped India clinch the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics with a 2-1 win over Spain at the Stade Yves du Manoir. Notably, India won back-to-back bronze medals in hockey for the first time in 52 years since the 1972 Munich Games.
While talking to the press, CM Majhi announced that Indian hockey team officials have been allotted a salary of Rs 10 lakhs. He also said that Amit Rohidas of Odisha will get a salary of Rs 4 crore.

“Indian hockey team defeated Spain and won the bronze medal, the next generation will remember this victory. I congratulate Amit Rohidas and all the other players for their performance and will give Rs 15 lakhs to the players and Rs 10 lakhs to the workers. Amit Rohidas will get Rs 4 crore, CM Majhi said. Meanwhile, former Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik addressed the Indian men’s hockey team after winning the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics on Thursday.
The former Odisha Chief Minister congratulated the Harmanpreet Singh-led team for beating Spain in the bronze medal match in Paris. “Congratulations to Team India from all of us in Odisha and all over India, we are proud of you. Well done,” Naveen Patnaik said during a phone call. Sreejesh, playing his last game for India, fell to the ground, feeling very emotional, and others were also celebrating this momentous occasion in the history of Indian hockey.
Under coach Craig Fulton, India made history and won two consecutive Olympic gold medals. Goals by Harmanpreet Singh (30′, 33′) allowed India to cross the finish line. On the Spanish side, Marc Miralles (18′) was the only one to score.
