Twinkle Khanna, the renowned actress-turned-author, is famous for her wit and sharp sense of humour. While fans often chuckle at her amusing takes on everyday life today, her charm and humour were just as evident during her time in the film industry. An old clip of Twinkle has resurfaced, where she candidly calls her life “a joke” and describes herself as an “unserious” person.
During an interview with Lehren, Twinkle spoke about her love for comedy films and how she enjoys bringing her playful personality to the screen. “I like comedy because, in real life, I am not a very serious person. I am clumsy and bumbling around, so yeah, I think my whole life is a joke,” Twinkle shared. “A lot of funny things happen to me, or I at least look at them in a funny way, so I like to portray that side of me.” She also highlighted how, despite her delicate appearance, she is quite tough.
In a previous interaction with Divya Jain, Twinkle revealed how her famous parents — veteran actors Dimple Kapadia and Rajesh Khanna — encouraged her to pursue acting. “My parents were very keen, my mother especially. I had applied for my CA entrance exam because that’s what I wanted to do. And my mother told me, ‘This is the only time that you can become an actress, and later you can do what you like.'”
Twinkle Khanna’s film career was relatively short. She made her acting debut in Barsaat in 1995 and went on to star in films like Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai, International Khiladi, Baadshah, Mela, and more. Her last film was Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega, which was released in 2001. After stepping away from acting, Twinkle transitioned into writing and became a bestselling author with books like Mrs Funnybones, The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad, Pyjamas Are Forgiving, and Welcome to Paradise.
Twinkle’s journey from an actress to a celebrated author is a testament to her adaptability and unique sense of humour. Today, she is known not only for her film career but also for her successful writing career that continues to resonate with readers worldwide.
