India’s star javelin thrower and two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra made history on May 16 by breaching the 90-meter mark during the men’s javelin event at the Doha Diamond League 2025. With a remarkable throw of 90.23 meters, Chopra became only the third Asian athlete to cross this milestone. India is proud: PM

“A spectacular feat! Congratulations to Neeraj Chopra for breaching the 90m mark at Doha Diamond League 2025 and achieving his personal best throw. This is the outcome of his relentless dedication, discipline and passion,” the Prime Minister posted on X, formerly Twitter.

While Chopra secured a massive personal achievement, he finished second in a thrilling contest, with Germany’s Julian Weber claiming the top spot.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Chopra, calling it a “spectacular feat” and applauding his relentless dedication and discipline. “India is elated and proud,” the PM added, acknowledging the 27-year-old’s landmark moment in Indian athletics.

Chopra’s performance marks a significant milestone in his career and adds another glorious chapter to India’s track and field history.
