In the 2025 edition of the Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack, Indian cricketers Jasprit Bumrah and Smriti Mandhana have been honored as the Leading Cricketers in the World, recognizing their exceptional performances in 2024.
Jasprit Bumrah: Outstanding Year with the Ball
- Jasprit Bumrah was named the Leading Cricketer in the World by Wisden for his incredible performances throughout 2024.
- He played a key role in India’s T20 World Cup victory in the West Indies and was awarded Player of the Tournament.
- In Test cricket, he was the top wicket-taker with 71 wickets at an average of 14.92.
- His consistent performances also earned him the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year award.
Smriti Mandhana: Dominant with the Bat
- Smriti Mandhana had an excellent year in ODIs, scoring 747 runs at an average of 57.46, including four centuries.
- She led Royal Challengers Bengaluru to their first Women’s Premier League title as captain.
- Mandhana was also named the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year for her outstanding efforts.
Other Notable Honours
- Nicholas Pooran was named the Leading T20 Cricketer in the World for his strong performances in the format.
- Wisden also selected five Cricketers of the Year: Gus Atkinson, Jamie Smith, Dan Worrall, Liam Dawson, and Sophie Ecclestone, based on their impact in the English cricket season.
