He also highlighted that this was India’s second ICC trophy in 2025, following the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup triumph, underscoring the strong cricketing ecosystem in the country.
Prior to the BCCI’s announcement, the ICC had declared a cash prize of USD 2.24 million for the Champions Trophy winners. Additionally, teams received USD 34,000 for each match won during the tournament, excluding the semi-finals and finals. The total prize pool for the tournament was USD 6.9 million, a 53% increase from the 2017 edition. New Zealand, as runners-up, received USD 1.12 million, while the losing semi-finalists, South Africa and Australia, were awarded USD 560,000 each. All eight participating teams were assured of USD 125,000 each for competing in the tournament.
India’s recent performance in ICC tournaments has been remarkable, with 23 wins in 24 completed matches across the last three men’s limited-overs tournaments. The sole loss during this period was in the 2023 ODI World Cup final against England.
