A Gujarat-based direct-to-consumer (D2C) health food startup. Alpino raised $1.2 million (INR 10 crore) in its first funding round, with Shilpa Shetty and other angel investors. Including Paresh Ghelani, contributing to the investment.
Alpino, founded in 2016 by Chetan Kanani, Hiren Sheta, Umesh Gajera, Priyank Vora, Milan Gopani, and Mahatva Sheta, specializes in peanut-based products like peanut butter, super rolled oats, muesli, and peanut protein isolate powder. The company plans to use the newly raised funds to expand its offline presence, explore international markets, and innovate its product line, aiming to launch more than 20 new items in the next two years.
Shetty expressed her enthusiasm for Alpino, stating that their focus on healthy eating aligns with her values. And even her family enjoys their natural peanut butter. Alpino’s co-founder, Chetan Kanani, emphasized that Shetty’s commitment to promoting health and wellness makes her the ideal representative for the brand.
Alpino, which reported a revenue of INR 73 crore in FY23. Has served over 2.5 million customers and aims to grow into a INR 500 crore company by 2025.
This collaboration highlights the rising trend of celebrities investing in the health and wellness sector. Recent examples include PV Sindhu’s investment in Greenday’s ‘Better Nutrition’ and KL Rahul’s stake in the fitness brand Boldfit. Additionally, actor Mahesh Babu has invested in the nutraceutical startup Fitday through his production company, GMB Entertainment.
