When it came to selecting four spinners for India’s 15-person roster for the 2024 T20 World Cup in North America, Rohit Sharma would not comment.
On April 30, India announced their team for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Four spinners were among the fifteen members of the squad, which was an interesting feature. These were leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav, and all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel, who bowl with left-arm finger-spin.
The Indian team for the 2024 T20 World Cup is composed of the following players: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj. Rohit Sharma is the captain. Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh are the reserves.
While not all teams have revealed their lineup just yet, the favourites are South Africa, England, Australia, and New Zealand. None of them have four spinners whose primary skill is bowling, but all of them feature at least four fast bowlers.
The closest thing the Indian team possesses to a fourth fast bowler, vice captain Hardik Pandya, hasn’t bowled much in the IPL and is most likely going to be the attack’s sixth bowler.
“I don’t want to discuss it in too much detail because I know that every captain from the opposition will be listening to this,” Rohit remarked. To answer your question quickly, I firmly believed that I wanted four spinners. That place [the West Indies] was where we played a lot of cricket. We are aware of the circumstances.
